The fly fishing in the sea has picked up a bit. North of Vidal they have been catching quite a few black tip kingfish and further south near Mission Rocks both blacktip and bigeye kingfish. Apparently the most success has been had with a sinking line and as large a fly as possible. It is also strange to report that there are still not many 3 spots around. Under most conditions on a light fly rod one can rely on picking up a couple of these feisty little fish but not in the last couple of months.

The debate is on again about breaching the mouth of the lake. This of course will be much less costly than the canal they dredged from the Umfolozi and subsequently silted up. After at least 12 years of the mouth being closed I do believe that breaching the mouth is now a serious proposal but of course it is a matter of who will pay. But right now, I am not holding my breath.
