We are now well into the saltwater season as far as the local estuaries are concerned. A good GT was taken in the Gonubie estuary last weekend and there are plenty of younger kingfish in the 1kg – 2kg class. The skipjack are also back in good numbers and some sizeable ones have been taken while there are also plenty of juvenile leeries (garrick) around. Grunter are also present and if you use a sinking line it is worth trying for kob.
Gonubie estuary is looking really good but Nahoon is still a bit polluted so it is better to try the drop-off near the mouth.
