The bad news is that the mouth of the lake has recently closed but the good news is that there are plenty of shad at nearby Mapelane Bay which is an easy place for flyfishing and occasionally GTs roar in to attack the shad shoals so if you are competent enough to handle a large GT here is the opportunity to do so also.

Strangely we have seen very few shad off the St Lucia coast or up at Vidal and also as strange is the fact that there are very few 3 spot pompanos which I also reported in June.

I believe there are quite a few perch in the lake now and it really needs someone to give it a try while keeping an eye open for crocs.

Illegal netting is unfortunately rampant in places due to lack of law enforcement and I hear it is bad up at Kosi.

I have a tackle shop in town if you need supplies and you can also get me at Fat Bike Fishing at https://www.facebook.com/fatbikefishing/.
