The club dam at Jansens which is a good 5 hectares has been fairly quiet with many members still paying their subs for the new year which has just commenced. However, there was a report of a 4,8 kg rainbow coming out of the Greystone dams last week. This was caught on a small Copper John although at this time of year egg patterns can be very productive. It has been a good winter period at the TFFC's Middelpunt waters. At the moment Dam 1 is being drained as part of a management plan to drain and re-fill all 7 dams. For more info visit www.tffc.co.za. BELFAST CLUB The Jack Frost on 31st July which included a Bow & Arrow and Knife Throwing was rather poorly supported but one of the corporates has asked that these activities be included in their next corporate day. It should be noted that the BFFA is actively looking for companies to hold corporate days on their waters as they have developed considerable expertise in this area. For those interested please contact Magda at 013-2530748 or bffa@lantic.net or Janet at 083 6544856. At the moment the club is focussing their efforts on just three of their dams and these are being kept well stocked. Also contact the above for the popular Spring Trout Festival on the long weekend of Sept 24-26. MACHADO FLYFISHING CLUB GLENSHEE The Genshee Day competition which is open to the public will be on 2nd October. For accommodation there are 2 caravans for hire. Day tickets may be purchased. For more information contact 013-2569349 or Sarie at 079 6080734. WATERVAL BOVEN CLUB Both Dams 1 & 2 have been emptied, scraped and refilled and they have now been re-stocked. Dam 3 has also been emptied, scraped and refilled but not stocked yet. The river has not been stocked for some time but does carry some wild fish. At this stage stocking of the river is scheduled for later in the year. For detailed information on the club go to http://www.wbta.co.za/ and for the 2010 programme refer to the ‘Events' calendar which is in the same section as these fishing reports. SABIE CLUB The club has had a very good winter season, partly due to the good flows in both their rivers, the Sabie and the Blyde. In addition, the heavy vegetation surrounding Lake Olaf has been cleared so fishing can now also been done from the bank. The annual Sabie River Challenge was held on July 25 and and 48 entrants took part which was very encouraging for the club. At other times the Day permits are R90 per day or R150 for 3 days and non-fishers pay R10 for an access permit. Permits for both rivers must be purchased at Big Sky in Sabie.
