New book from FOSAF

With the launch of Volume 3 of Favoured Flies & Select Techniques of the Experts FOSAF have a new addition to what has proved to be a very popular concept. Volume 1 was launched in early 2006 with Volume 2 following at the end of that year. Both books have been very well accepted and this new volume with seventeen new writers focuses on Tigerfish, Stillwater trout, the Yellowfish species of the Western Cape and for saltwater anglers, Queenfish and Garrick(Leervis). Stillwater Trout were covered in Volume 1 but new writers have given their thoughts with overlaps and differences from the writers in Volume 1. One must acknowledge that stillwater trout fishing in South African dams is very popular and needs additional exposure. For the rest, the other species are being featured for the first time.

As in the previous books each author selects six favoured flies, how he ties them and tips on how he fishes them. This new volume, which has many colour illustrations including those of the flies, will make an excellent Christmas gift. The book is available from either flyfishing tackle stores or leading bookshops. The recommended retail price is R187,00 but paid-up FOSAF members may purchase them from the National Secretariat (011-4675992) at a specially reduced price of R110,00.

All funds generated from the sale of the FOSAF books are used to finance their many admirable projects such as the Yellowfish Working Group, the Highlands Academy and the ongoing negotiations with the authorities with regard to the National Environmental Management Act.
